Overview
MARGIN is a calendar inbox application that helps you turn screenshots and text into calendar events. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
What We Collect
1. Content You Share
When you share screenshots or text with MARGIN via the Share Sheet:
- What we process: Images and text you explicitly share
- How we process it: Sent to AI services for event extraction
- What we extract: Event title, date, and time
- What we store locally: Extracted event information on your device only
- What we don't store: Original images and text are deleted after processing
2. Calendar Data
A) Adding events (default)
- What we access: Calendar write access only when you confirm (iOS 17+ permission model)
- What we write: Only events you explicitly confirm
- What we don't do: Never auto-add events without your confirmation
B) Calendar Digest (optional)
If you enable Calendar Digest in Settings:
- What we access: Full calendar access (to read events)
- What we read: Your calendar events to generate schedule structure summaries
- How we process it: Processed locally on your device; calendar data is not uploaded to our servers
- What we don't do: We do not edit or delete existing calendar events
3. Subscription Information
- What Apple handles: All payment processing via StoreKit
- What we store locally: Your subscription status (tier, expiration date)
- What we don't store: Payment methods, credit card information, billing details
4. Device Information
- What we collect: Device locale (for language selection), iOS version (for compatibility)
- What we don't collect: Device identifiers, location data, contacts, browsing history

Third-Party Services
AI Services
- Purpose: Event extraction from images and text
- Data sent: Your shared screenshots and text
- Data retention: Processed in real-time, not stored
Apple Services
- StoreKit: Handles all subscription payments
- EventKit: Writes confirmed events; reads events locally only if you enable Calendar Digest
- App Store: Distributes the app
Data Security
- HTTPS encryption: All API communication uses TLS 1.3
- Local storage: Uses iOS secure storage
- No tracking: No analytics SDKs, no user tracking
- Minimal collection: We only collect what's necessary
Children's Privacy
MARGIN is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app contains no content unsuitable for children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do: The "Last Updated" date will change, and significant changes will be noted in app updates.
